Cotgrove,
Nottinghamshire
Gliding peacefully across beautiful countryside
early on a summer morning, or in the evening
is an unforgettable experience. Unlike other
aircraft, you can watch the hot air balloon
being assembled before your eyes - just
like a giant tent ! Then climb aboard and
admire the view from the basket - no doors
closed, or windows to sit behind, it's all
out in the fresh air. Fantastic !
Cotgrove
is a small town in the borough of Rushcliffe
in south Nottinghamshire. It is located
to the west of the A46 and south east of
Nottingham City Airport and Bassingfield
with its numerous camping areas to the north.
It is approximately 2.5 miles east West
Bridgeford and 3miles north of Keyworth.
and Stanton-on-the-wolds. Cotgrove, like
many of the villages which lie in the Vale
of Belvoir to the east, is mainly reached
by minor roads joining either the A46, A52
or A606. Be aware that Hot Air Balloons
are subject to restrictions in the areas
around airports and airfields. (Not a bad
idea, as the pilot has only very limited
control over the direction of the balloon
!) Residents of Cotgrove may therefore have
to drive a short distance away to a hot
air balloon take-off point.
Passengers can choose
the location of their flight after purchasing
a voucher accepted for flights all over
the UK. Prices depend on number of passengers
- more passengers cost less per person.
