Wellingborough,
Northamptonshire
Flying
over the countryside in a hot air balloon
is an unforgettable experience. It is the
most romantic form of flight, and a fantastic
new perspective of the world below !
Wellingborough,
a small town located 11 miles from the county
town of Northampton on the north side of
the River Nene, dates from the 6th century
and is mentioned in the Domesday Book under
the name “Wendelburie”. Formerly a centre
for leather and shoe manufacture, it now
has a more mixed economy based around light
manufacturing. A Heritage Centre and a nearby
Narrow Gauge Railway Museum feature among
local attractions. Wellingborough is a great
place from which to arrange a hot air balloon
ride. Depending on the wind direction on
the day, you’re likely to be able to see
much of the River Nene and local water features,
picturesque villages in the area, and possibly
even a stately home or two from the air.
Enjoy !
