St
Helens,
Merseyside
Merseyside
is a densely populated coastal county, lots
of people, spirit, humour, lots to see -
from land and air.
St
Helens is on the edge of the main Merseyside
conurbation, close to Knowsley
and Huyton, and
just a few miles west of Haydock (Haydock
Park Racecourse), and Ashton-in-Makerfield
(Lancashire).
Access to St. Helens by road is along the
A570 (from Ormskirk
and Skelmersdale
to the north), or the M62 (J,7) to the south.
Alternatively, St. Helens can be reached
from the A58 from Huyton (to the west) or
Ashton-in-Makerfield (to the east).
St. Helens is most well-known for one of
the most successful companies in this area:
St.
Helens' Glass which as recently ceased
trading. See also St
Helens Windows and The
World of Glass, a visitor centre in
the heart of St Helens.
St. Helens is also right on the edge of
Knowsley Safari Parks so apart from enjoying
a hot air balloon flight, you could also
visit the animals.
