Liverpool,
Merseyside
Merseyside
is a densely populated coastal county, lots
of people, spirit, humour, lots to see -
from land and air.
Liverpool
is at the heart of the county of Merseyside,
so much so that many of the other pages
in this section refer back to the connections
between other Merseyside locations and Liverpool
city centre.
Liverpool is famous for many things, including
maritime history (it was the "second city
of the [British] Empire" - after London),
emigration to the "New World" of North America,
the slave trade, having two cathedrals,
The Beatles, Liverpool Football Club, Everton
Football Club, Scouse (language), Scouse
(food/stew), and numerous entertainers such
as Cilla Black, Ken Dodd, and the cast of
the 1980s sitcom "Bread". Well, that's a
start anyway...
Visit Liverpool during 2008 and we're sure
that the European Capital of Culture will
have even more treats in store !
