Whalley
is a small town located between Longridge Fell and the Forest of Pendle.
It has tourist attractions such as the Whalley Abbey ruins and Stonyhurst
Public School nearby in the village of Hurst Green. Whalley is reached
along the A59 from Jn 31 of the M6 Motorway. It is north of Great Harwood
and south of Clitheroe.
Whalley is close to the south-west section of the moorland area and Pendle
Hill in the Forest of Pendle. Tourists driving through the area have a fantastic
view of the impressive Victorian 48 bricked arches of the Whalley Viaduct
which spans the River Calder and carries passenger trains at a height of
over 21m to Whalley Railway Station. The Spring Wood Nature Trail and extensive
Whalley Golf Course is located to the east of the town and the A671.
