Nailsworth,
Gloucestershire
Gliding peacefully across beautiful countryside
early on a summer morning, or in the evening
is an unforgettable experience. Unlike other
aircraft, you can watch the hot air balloon
being assembled before your eyes - just
like a giant tent ! Then climb aboard and
admire the view from the basket - no doors
closed, or windows to sit behind, it's all
out in the fresh air. Fantastic !
The
town of Nailsworth, is in a valley, itself
a meeting of 3 valleys leading to Horsley,
Avening and Stroud. It is situated 6 miles
south of Stroud on the A46 which goes through
the centre of the town. Beyond, to the north
of Windsoredge is Woodchester Park and Nympsfield
Long Barrow located to the north west close
to the B4066 from Stroud to Dursley. There
are several mill ponds nearby remaining
from the once related woollen mills of the
area. There are two golf courses in the
area one close to Amberley to the north,
and the other to the east near Avening.
On Nailsworth’s annual ‘Family Day’ on the
playing fields some hot air balloons have
been known to take off during the early
evening.
Passengers can choose
