Lechlade-on-Thames,
Gloucestershire
Gliding peacefully across beautiful countryside
early on a summer morning, or in the evening
is an unforgettable experience. Unlike other
aircraft, you can watch the hot air balloon
being assembled before your eyes - just
like a giant tent ! Then climb aboard and
admire the view from the basket - no doors
closed, or windows to sit behind, it's all
out in the fresh air. Fantastic !
The
market town of Lechlade-on-Thames is situated
beside the Thames 11 miles east of Cirencester
and six miles north east of Faringdon (Oxfordshire).
The River Coln joins the Thames south of
the town and the Thames Severn Canal and
Marina are located nearby. There are two
nature reserves close to the town, the Richardson&
Amey Reserve to the north and The Whelford
Pools to the north-west close to Fairford.
About 4 miles east stands Kelmscott Manor
(Oxfordshire) the Summer home of William
Morris and a few miles south of Lechlade
is the 11th century church at Inglesham.
