The
ancient medieval town of Winchelsea sits
on the A259, less than 3 miles southwest
of Rye and within
8 miles northeast of both Ore
and Hastings.
The town sits alongside the River Brede
and is only a short journey east to the
Camber Castle. Winchelsea’s cobbled
streets, quaint shops and scenic gardens
create an area that is great for taking
a walk through. The town is part of the
civil parish of Icklesham and claims to
be the smallest town in the UK that is currently
without a mayor.
