The
market town of South Molton is situated
to the south of the A361 (10 miles south
east of Barnstaple), which outskirts the
town. The town is established at the junction
of the B3227, (Bampton to Great Torrington),
B3226 (joins A377) and the B3137 (to Tiverton)
It is close to the county border with Somerset
and the Exmoor Forest National Park. South
Molton is the largest town in the rural
area of north east Devon but is surrounded
by many villages within a distance of 5
miles. At its centre is the Town Hall (1740)
containing the museum, and to the north
east lies Quince Honey Farm, reputed to
be England’s largest honey farm.
