The
town of Moretonhampstead is located at the
intersection of the A382 (Bovey Tracey)
and the B3212 (Two Bridges / Exeter) on
the edge of the Dartmoor National Park.
It is noted for its 17th century arcaded
stone almshouses in Cross Street, and for
being the birth place of George Parker Bidder,
the engineer of the Victoria Docks in London.
The B3212 towards Princetown passes the
Golf Course and Miniature Pony Centre which
has a wildfowl lake, adventure play area
and pet’s corner. A tributary of the River
Bovey flows south through the town close
to the nearby caravan and camp site, south
of the B3212 towards Dunsford.
