ancient market town of Kingsbridge is situated
south east of Plymouth and south west of
Dartmouth. It is an excellent centre from
which to explore the South Hamms, an area
of outstanding natural beauty of cliff-top
walks, inland and coastal villages, numerous
camp site locations and in close proximity
to Slapton Sands. The modern town, now extended
to include Dodbrooke, is a working and holiday
centre recommended for its mild climate
influenced by the Gulf Stream to the south
and sheltered by the heights of Dartmoor
National Park to the north.
