market town of Chudleigh is situated on
the B3344 to the east of the A38, about
10 miles south of Exeter, 30 miles north
of Plymouth and north-west of Dawlish. The
popular local venues include the picturesque
old quarries and lime kilns, limestone mass
of Chudleigh Rock to the south and the beautiful
park with its grove of beech trees ‘Dryden’s
Walk’. At the topmost point of the park
is the early Iron-Age hillfort and earthwork
of Castle Dyke with its commanding views
across the countryside to the north and
west.
