If you're lucky enough to live in this beautiful
area, then how about seeing it from a different
perspective ?
The
market town of Bideford lies to the south
west of Barnstaple and Ilfracombe. The A386
from Plymouth meets the A39 at Bideford
with much of its route alongside the River
Torridge which widens beyond Bideford and
joins the River Taw at the estuary. To the
north east of the town lie Westleigh and
Eastleigh close to the A39, the busy port
of Appledore, and the coastal village of
Westward Ho! to the north west.
The 24 arched medieval bridge spans the
river and ferry services sail from the quayside
to nearby Lundy Island. The Tarka Trail,
once the old railway track is a popular
venue for local people and tourists.
