attractive Devonshire village of Bampton
is situated close to the southeast corner
of Exmoor National Park within 4 miles of
the Somerset border. It is reached via the
A396 south from Tiverton along the valley
of the River Exe and the A396 north from
Dunster (Somerset). The River Exe flows
south to the west of the village with its
many tributaries joining it to the west
and south of the village. The B3190, B3222
and the B3227 meet in the area around Bampton.
The area to the east is of rural countryside
including the villages of Morbath and Shillingford,
with Huntsham located to the south east
of Bampton.
