The large town of St. Austell lies close to the coastline of St. Austell Bay. It is situated 11 miles north east from Truro (A390), 4 miles north of Mevagissey (B3273), 6 miles south of Lostwithie (A39), south-east of Newquay (A3058) and south of Bodmin. Close to the coast at Charlestown is the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre with the St. Austell Brewery to the south of the town. At Carthaw to the north of St. Austell is the Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum and the Eden Project between the north east of the town and St. Blazey.
