Launceston, the once walled town and capital of Cornwall, is located within 3 miles of the Devon County Boundary, 20 miles north of Saltash, and east of Camelford along the A395. From its hilltop castle there are panoramic views to the north of the rugged Atlantic coastline, east to Dartmoor, and west to Bodmin Moor. The town is situated at the junction of the A30 (Bodmin), the A3951 (Davidstow) and the B388 (Saltash). The town is surrounded by wooded countryside, streams, rivers, and several picturesque villages such as St. Briochus, Lezart and Lawhitton.
