Aldermaston (Berkshire) is probably best known as the location of AWE - the Atomic Weapons Establishment that provides warheads for the United Kingdom nuclear deterrent. Aldermaston is located on the A340 to the east of Newbury and Thatcham and the south-west of Reading. This is an attractive rural area where we would not be surprised to see Hot Air Balloons in the air on summer evenings.
